Pizza My Heart with Pink and Main

Hi, everyone! I'm so thrilled to be the Guest Designer for August for Pink and Main. The wheels have been turning with ideas to share with you throughout the month, and I hope they inspire you to create something amazing! I've created a Puzzle-Shaker card for my first project featuring the Pink and Main Super-sized Stamps, and Coordinating Dies along with the Puzzle Heart Die and Pattern Maker Stamp Set.  You can check out the video tutorial over on my website or YouTube. 

Stamp the pizza slice 6 times, keeping the slices as close to each other as possible without overlapping them. Stamp one slice off to the side to be colored and die-cut later.  Color the pizza slices using COPIC markers.

CRUST: E31, E33, E35, E337 

SAUCE: E09

PEPPERONI: R24, R39, E07, E09

CHEESE: W00, W1, W3, Y21

Die-cut the slices using the Puzzle Heart Die, I was careful to keep the pieces together, but you can use Cling Wrap if you prefer. Flip the heart over, remove one puzzle piece for shaker window, add adhesive, and secure a piece of acetate over the heart and trim. Add 3D mounting foam to the acetate. 

Using the Pattern Maker Stamp set, stamp three lines on the top and bottom of a 4.25" x 4.25" #110 top-fold card base with khaki ink. Lay the puzzle piece behind the heart and center the heart on the card base. 

Carefully remove the heart, holding the puzzle piece in place and lightly trace around the corners of the puzzle piece. This allows us to lay our sequins down and avoid the "upside-down guessing game." You know exactly where to place your heart, too. Add sequins. I used a sequin mix of reds, greens, and golds.

 Remove backing off 3D mounting foam and adhere to card base pressing firmly in place. 

Die-cut the single slice of pizza using the coordinating die from the Super-sized Dies. Add mounting foam to the back of the slice of pizza and position in the top right corner, be sure to leave the shaker window peaking out. Stamp sentiment onto Kraft paper using embossing ink, add white embossing powder and heat set. Trimmer down with paper trimmer, add 3D mounting foam to the back and adhere to the lower part of the pizza puzzle. Add three sequins to finish the card. 

Good Vibes

Hi, and welcome! Today I'm sharing a card created with the Tropical Vibes Stamps and Dies along with a few other products you can find listed below. Have you ever made something and thought to yourself, this is my thing? Well, I've decided black and white backgrounds are my thing. There's something about the way it makes everything come to life. Anyway, I hope you like it as much as I do.

WALKTHROUGH 

Stamp turnabout stamp using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  

Die-cut the "good vibes" sentiment in gold glitter.

Die-cut three more layers using white cardstock, I used Couture Creations DieCut N Bond before die-cutting to make stacking easier. You only need to peel the back off the adhesive and stack.

Die-cut one piece of Vellum and one piece of turquoise cardstock using a circular die. (size personal preference)

I glued the gold glitter to the white cardstock. Only because I didn't add the DieCut N Bond adhesive

(I wasn't thinking) Add the stacked "good vibes" to the die-cut Vellum

Using a 3D mounting foam adhere the Vellum to the turquoise cardstock. 

Die-cut six of the palm leaves (vary the sizes) using green cardstock, cut two frond palm leaves using green vellum, cut flowers using pink and yellow cardstock.

Cut the stamped panel down to a 5.25" square. Cut all four sides to keep the pattern balanced. 

Center stamped panel on a 5.5" square card base.

Arrange die-cut pieces and glue in place. Use 3D mounting on the flower to pop them up off the cardbase. 

Add a few sequins and call it a day! Super simple.

Hello, Toucan Paradise

Hi, and welcome back? Today's is all about the Toucan Paradise Stamps and Dies from Concord & 9th. Just released earlier this month, I decided I would give it a try, and I'm not regretting that decision at all. This card screams summer fun to me, and for some reason, I am all about the summer fun this year. As some of you may know, I'm all about the stamping, too. I like coloring but give me a solid image and some colored inks, this girl is in heaven.Oh, and did I mention, I've decided my new thing is black and white. I love black and white with gorgeous pops of coloring. Who knows maybe I found that one thing I will be known for. Okay, without further ado, here's a quick video tutorial for you. Not a fan of videos scroll past the video, and I will have a walkthrough for you.

WALKTHROUGH
Stamp the body of the toucan using black ink.

Die-cut the stamped body.

 The beak is two stamps; start with the large section first.

Stamp the large section with green ink.

Stamp the second part of the beak with black in

Using the Gina K. Designs wreath builder to stamp a background.

Stamp the palm leaves with green ink.

Stamp the frond palm leaves with a darker green ink.

Stamp the largest flower with pink ink and the smaller flower with orange ink.

Stamp the breast details using yellow ink.

Stamp the palm leaves again with black ink. See photo below.

Fill in white spaces by stamping small details using blue, yellow, and gray ink.

Die-cut the branch from gold glitter paper.

Use foam strips to adhere to the branch to the front of the card. 
Add 3D mounting foam to the back of the toucan and adhere over the branch to the front of the card panel.

Finished 4 x 4inch panel.

Stamp edges of a 5x5 inch card base with detail stamp and black ink.

Add 3D mounting to the back of the stamped 4x4 panel and center to the front of the cardbase.

Add sequins using glossy accents.

Stamp sentiment in the lower right corner using black ink. Touch up with black pen if necessary. 
I love the way this card turned out.

One Stamp, Four Ways

Hi, and welcome! The inspiration for today's post comes from the need to create a 4th of July card and not having individually themed stamps for that. Now, this is not new to me, but I thought it might be helpful for a new cardmaker with limited supplies, or maybe, you just want to stretch the use of your stamps.

STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL

A few things you should know before starting; I used Distress Inks,, but you use what you have available to you, I used a jig purchased from Concord & 9th, but you can easily make one, and a stamp positioning tool makes life a little bit easier! I used a 5.5-inch cardbase.

• Align stamp using alignment aid, pick-up the align stamp with the lid of you stamp positioning tool, remove alignment aid, add repositionable tape to the back of #80 cardstock, adhere to a jig.
• Using Distress Inks in the colors Chipped Sapphire, Barn Door, and Hickory Smoke for this card.
• Ink stamp, stamp it, turn the jig once, clean the stamp and repeat the process up to three more times.
• Die-cut the center of stamped panel using a 3-inch round die-cut, die-cut the 4th using Simon Says Stamp Big Numbers dies and Schoolhouse Red cardstock backed with double-sided adhesive, cut a small strip of navy cardstock at least 4-inches long, width is personal preference.
• Print "happy of July" onto Strathmore Laser Transculent Vellum using Copperplate Gothic Light Font
• Add 3D mounting to the back of the stamped panel, dry-fit the panel on cardbase, use a pencil to add light tick marks at the top and bottom positions to make centering the printed sentiment easier, once you're happy with the placement, adhere the printed vellum to the cardbase
• Using Gina K Connect Glue center the navy strip to the back of the stamped panel; centered on the round window, add the four over the navy cardstock.
• Using a gel pen add details to the 'TH' and then adhere to the navy strip alongside the four 
• Add three sequins using clear adhesive.

Here are three more samples using the same stamp set, creating a Valentine, St. Patrick, and Christmas card. 

 The 4th of July card is my favorite but the St. Patrick's is 2nd runner up.

Beautiful Backgrounds using Distress Oxide Sprays & Embossing Folders

Hi, and welcome everyone. Today I'm sharing a fun and simple way to create beautiful backgrounds. These backgrounds are perfect for all those big-word dies and alphabet dies we all love. I have a video below that will walk you through the process plus a written walk-through. Watching videos is not everyone's thing, I get it.

 Okay, let's walk through the process.
I want to start off by saying I did not include the embossing folders or plate to the supply list. Several are no longer available and I thought this would be a great way for you all to revisit your embossing folders.


PREP
You will need Bristol Smooth Paper, Distress Oxide Sprays, a brayer and embossing folders. 

To create the backgrounds you want to lightly spray Distress Oxide Sprays on the inside front flap of the embossing folders. Lay a piece of Bristol Smooth paper down, and using the brayer, rollover the folder several times.


Here's the finished background, set aside to dry.

Using the remaining ink, spritz with any shimmer spray, lay a piece of Bristol Smooth paper down, rolling over the folder again with the brayer. 

You will get several backgrounds done before you need to add more of the Distress Oxide Spray to the folder.  Here's the second background, you can see it is a bit lighter.

I'm using an embossing plate for the next two backgrounds, lightly spraying the Distress Oxide Spray in the color Peacock Feathers, laying down Bristol Smooth paper, and rolling the brayer directly over the paper.

I was pleasantly surprised with the end result. 

I added Distress Oxide Spray in the color Twisted Citron and a shimmer spray over the remaining Peacock Feathers ink to create this next look. 

So you can see this a super simple technique. Here are all the backgrounds I created using the Distress Oxide Spray-Embossing Folder technique.
From here it really is personal preference how you use the backgrounds. 
Here's a closer look at all the cards I created. 

I used several of the backgrounds to make cards for this post. I started with the backgrounds created using the embossing plate.

Both of these backgrounds had a small place that looked a bit muddled and I decided to camouflage that by using a stencil and Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste in the color Ocean Spray.

If you have never tried the Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste I highly recommend it. It adds such beautiful texture and sparkle.

I took the opportunity to show my die-cuts some love and had such a fun time using all these products.

I finished off a few of my cards by adding stamped sentiments and sequins.
