Strokes of Pride + New Mood Board Challenge

Hi, everyone! Today I'm sharing a patriotic card I created for the current SumMore Fun Mood Board Challenge. I have to admit I went outside the "rectangle" with this one which is very unusual for me. I know it's a good thing to work outside our comfort zone and when I'm always scratching my head as to why I don't do it more often. Any-who...before I dive into the details of the card I want to share my inspiration with you.

SumMore Fun Blog has a bi-weekly mood board challenge, play along with the colors, the photos or just use the whole board. Hey, maybe you want ice cream on a boat, who knows! All we know is we can't wait to see what you create and maybe, you'll be the lucky winner of a $20 shop credit with SumMore Fun Online Store.

You might notice on this challenge both design teams are working with the same stamp set, Raisin Boat Strokes of Pride.

HOW TO

  • To create this card simply die-cut white cardstock using a large circle die.
  • To stamp the USA I used a stamp positioning tool ( it makes this super easy), close the lid of the positioner and lay a circle die-cut on top of the lid, hold in place with washi tape.
  • Open lid and position stamp on the inside of the positioner lid (like you always do) using the die-cut as a guide.
  • Stamp USA using red and blue ink.
  • Stamp the star using white ink onto kraft paper and fussy cut, add 3D mounting foam to the back and adhere to card.
  • Die-cut white cardstock banner and stamp sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink adhere using 3D mounting foam
  • Add red, white and blue enamel dots
  • Add a score line to the other die-cut circle to create a fold, add adhesive above the fold line and adhere to die-cut circles together to create card.
So now it's your turn to show us your take on the mood board. You have until July 19th to link up.

Celebrate!

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm up on the Craftin Desert Divas blog with the daily post for you.
Today, I'm sharing a red, white, and blue themed card using the Banner Dies, Flag Banner Dies, and Across The Border Stamp Set.  If you are new to shaker cards starting small is a great way to go.

Here's what I created:

Celebrate red, white, and blue shaker card

I created the streamers by stamping the "Celebrate" sentiment from Say It Big Stamp Set with Versafine Onyx and stamping red polka dots using Across The Borders Stamp Set with Stampin Up Real Red then die-cutting with Flag Banner Dies.

To create the shaker, I die-cut the oval and star from the Banner Dies, added mounting foam and acetate from the Shaker Bundle #1 kit and Fairy Dust Sequins.

To create the card base I die-cut white cardstock and kraft cardstock using the Banner Dies and layered.

Red, White & Blue July 4th Shaker Card filled with red, blue, silver sequins

Red, White & Blue July 4th Shaker Card filled with red, blue, silver sequins

This card is so easy to create with the new Crazy Stitched Frame Dies. Die-cut the two largest stitched frames with any paper, I used papers from the Patriotic Picnic 6x6 paper pad, cut acetate to cover back of die-cut frame, add mounting foam (2 layers, personal preference), die-cut largest stitched frame with patterned for backing of shaker, add sequins and adhere back to complete shaker, using heavy weight white cardstock for card base, layer with kraft cardstock and completed shaker, die cut balloons, streamers and banner from Party Dies and adhere to front of card. Happy July 4th is from my paper stack. You could easily use a banner and sentiment to replace that.

Here are all the CDD products I used:
