Hi and welcome, everyone! Last year I was asked to create a few centerpieces for A Warriors On The Water Committee Dinner to be held at my parents home. So I created five of these fantastic JGW MY Hero 3D Combat Boots stuffed them with white shredded crinkle paper and inserted two American Flags. These five boots turned into 75 boots when I was asked to create 70 more for this year's Icebreaker held here at Sports, USA - Ft. Bragg, NC.
Warriors On The Water is a Military Appreciation Bass Fishing Tournament. It's a day when 150+ Soldiers are paired with Bass Fishermen to spend a day fishing and a chance to win some fabulous prizes. Even more than that, it is a day that someone says to them..."Thank You for your sacrifices!".
The Icebreaker is held on the Wednesday night before the Friday Tournament. It's a night of fun for the Military Men and Women who attend as well as for our volunteers and fishermen. They expect over 400 people to be in attendance and will have guest speakers from the Military representing all branches whose troops are fishing the event. The fishermen will be paired up with their Military counterparts and have a chance to talk strategy for the big tournament on Friday.
70 more boots! 71 in this photo. We made two extras, just in case.
4 - 8 hour days of cutting.
56 hours to assemble. 7 - 8 hour days.
One helper, my very own hero, my hubby!

Four boxes ready to go!
The boots were a huge hit! I think a few walked off, but that's okay, too.
And if you're ever in need of a boot, you know where to go, SVG Attic!
As always, thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.
Speechless! This is pure awesomeness Lisa. As a prior military spouse, what an honor to have someone do this for our fellow men and women. You should be so proud of yourself because I know I am!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We love our military around here. My hubby is retired Infantry so we've lived it and know the hardships. Put all that aside, this is what we are suppose to do for each other, lift each other up, be kind to each other.
DeleteWow! That is stunning! You're really an incredible person, Lisa! God Bless You and your husband for all your work. I'm sure they were appreciated. Wow!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Beth. It truly was an honor making these for our troops.
DeleteYou are an angel, Lisa. These are perfect and really tie the entire together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy! It was so much fun and such an honor to be asked to do this.
DeleteWhat a wonderful project!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Living in Australia, I have had no experience with Military customs ... May I ask ... what is the significance of the last two images? Very poignant.
ReplyDeleteThat is known as "The Missing Man" Table also known as "The Fallen Comrade" Table. It's to honor all KIA/POW/MIA during military functions. The table is set with a white table cloth, black napkin, an inverted glass, and one candle. A slice of lemon and salt on the plate. Everything on the table and the empty chair are symbols. The empty chair symbolizes the missing soldier who isn't here, the candle stands for the blood shed by the soldier, the lemon wedge for the bitterness of life lost, the salt for the tears shed by loved ones, the inverted glass represents that the soldier can no longer toast, the rose stands for the family, and the yellow ribbon for all those still deployed. I hope I didn't miss anything if I did I will add it.
DeleteCathyC thank you for asking and the sweet comment.
